"Paradise Costs is a compelling journey through the scripts and tapes of the past into a dysfunctional family dynamic to which many of us can relate. More than a story of personal tragedy and triumph, this is a call to concrete action in support of the Elder Justice Act. Irene Masiello's reality writing creates a simple and efficient way to take a pro-active stance against elder abuse and exploitation."

ABOUT PARADISE COSTS: said...

Deception, corruption, exploitation and manipulation collide in a heart-wrenching story of an infirm, 80-year-old man with Alzheimer’s

who was taken from his family, stripped of his assets and exploited despite the pleas of his next of kin. What makes this story even

more compelling? It's not fiction.

Readers view the actual forensic report of a victim of elder abuse & exploitation in this compelling true story told through the

eyes of a courageous daughter. Circumstances unfold outrageously leading to the unimaginable while shocking obstacles hinder

a remarkable effort to save a parent.

This powerful, provocative narrative conveys awareness inviting reader participation through self-contained reality writing

urging enactment of the Elder Justice Act now before both Houses of Congress. It’s an amazing plea advocating

action to safe-guard our aging population. Join a movement to help STOP ELDER ABUSE NOW by tearing out petitions

and letters inside this proactive reality writing book.

“Paradise Costs is a riveting wake-up call for anyone faced with caring for elderly loved ones, including

78 million ‘at risk’ Baby Boomers. It's a gripping true story told through the eyes of a courageous

daughter, who demonstrates how ordinary circumstances can twist and turn into an extraordinary

chain of events--leading to unthinkable crimes.

“Through this compelling and cautionary page-turner, Irene Masiello encounters unforeseen issues

and obstacles during her remarkable effort to save her beloved father, just one of way too many seniors

who fall between the cracks of our outdated and failing eldercare system.

“By exemplifying the outrage that so many have experienced, Paradise Costs compels the reader to

demand respect and honor for our senior citizens--and instills determination to help spread support

for the Elder Justice Act.” ~Jacqueline Marcell, author of Elder Rage &

host of Coping with Care-giving radio show.

Hi Irene,
Thank you for the opportunity to tell Bill's story. I saw it posted. The world needs to know what "they" did to him. Deliberate acts, when he was too sick and helpness to prevent it. Knowing what my family has gone through for the last several years, I often feel a sense of panic in thinking who's next? I need to help stop it.

A friend told me she handed out 16 reality writing kits today. She took along a copy of your book I gave to her as a Christmas gift. The group was very interested, she said.

My daughter-in-law, a nurse, is handing out some to co-workers and elder centers, etc.

WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!!!!!!!!
Take care,

Dear Irene,

Received your e-mail through the NASGA e-list. I’m in the middle of a court battle for my mother’s freedom today and hope to spend more time with your site soon. Thank you for a great-t-t-t-t resource!

Linda

Friends, an attorney who is a federal agent told me that having federal legislation deem the elderly as a special group of citizens--the way civil rights workers are--would qualify them for special protection
at federal level.

Perhaps, I am ill informed but I thought we are still protected to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Ditto, Irene. We see so much ugliness that we need to keep in mind those whose hearts are good. Thank you for sharing. I've ordered your book and can't wait to read it.

Peace and good will to all!!!
