Man Beats Gramdmother to a Pulp

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - It's a disturbing case of elder abuse. A Salt Lake grandmother was physically abused, her own grandson accused of the attack. How could this happen? And how can anyone prevent it from happening again?

As of Thursday afternoon, 25-year-old David Aaron Wilson was in jail charged with assault and elder abuse. His 68-year-old grandmother is in the hospital after police say she was punched, kicked and bitten.

It's shocking, but even more shocking is the fact that this type of elder abuse and other types happen all the time, people just don't talk about it or report it, and that's the real problem.

“We have 2500 referrals in a year and we estimate there are 25 thousand cases out there," says Diviniey. "It is one of the most under reported crimes in America.”
