VISTA – A caretaker who admitted stealing the Cardiff home of the couple who hired her was sentenced to eight years in prison yesterday.

Gina Trevino, 49, was responsible for one of the worst cases of financial elder abuse in San Diego County history, prosecutor Steven Carver told the judge during a Superior Court hearing.

Trevino, a felon who never revealed her criminal past, gained power of attorney from the couple and tricked them into signing over their home to her.
