KOHL TO HOLD HEARING ON STATE OF NURSING HOME INDUSTRY

This Year Marks 20th Anniversary of Landmark Nursing Home Reform Act

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, May 2, Senate Special Committee on Aging Chairman Herb Kohl (D-WI) will hold a hearing entitled, “The Nursing Home Reform Act Turns Twenty: What Has Been Accomplished, and What Challenges Remain?” The purpose of the hearing is to review what progress has been made under the Nursing Home Reform Act (better known as OBRA ’87), as well as what the current and future challenges are in attaining a higher level of safety and quality of care for those seniors living in long-term care facilities.
