Thank G-d Such Men Lived.-Happy Memorial Day
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." -- General George Patton
These brave men and women whom we owe everything come back home and age and they do not deserve to be abused or warehoused and treated as expendable, old age is the ultimate crown of experience, elder abuse is a sickness representative of the decay of our values, our civilization our very existence is now threatened by the scourge of elder abuse and the greed and malovence of those who perpetuate it .
Thank you Uncle James and those so many others who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the right to property, and the pursuit of happiness. To those that wish to denigrate the cost of freedom as you will find out problably sooner rather than later, it's very steep.
The older folks many who have fought in past wars deserve our upmost respect, consideration and protection.Any disrespect, abuse, (IRA)Involuntary Redistribution of Assets perpetrated upon the older folks is an affront on all of us.
God Bless to all and Happy and Safe Memorial Day ...................

Help an Elder Please. - "Just Do It"!
Key West, Florida USA -
Today we went to visit one of our favorite homeless elders who has been put through the mill. - His name is Eighty-Nine Cents, we call him that becasue he is always asking for Eighty-Nine cents, never a dollar, or fifty-cents always eighty-nine cents.
After older people have exhausted all of their means and have no where to turn, we brought hot tacos to the beach to feed them to help them to survive the cold.

Friends and Loved Ones in Puerto Plata Wish Clara a Farewell Before Going Back to the U.S.
After a wonderful and relaxing two month stay in the Dominican Republic, neighbors come to say good bye to Clara and wish her farewell. Back to the U.S. from her brief break of continuing and never ending court hearings. Back to resume her four year long battle against her abusers, and ever since her family went public in regards to her plight, her case is gaining a head-wind.
Clara was allowed to travel to Puerto Plata, a vacation that was planed for many years.
The last two months she has been continually surrounded by people that keep her company and love having her with them, people who will do anything within their power to keep Clara out of a nursing home and make sure that she receives all of the loving care she deserves.
It was just heartbreaking to see our mother go from a dynamic business woman to an abused, duped, and finally incapacitated person by neglect, all of this in a matter of a very short time.
She was a wealthy, independent and proud lady that was turned into a broken shell of a person, mostly dependent on the generosity of those who love her deeply as a friend and they have taken care of her without any sort of remuneration.

This is Clara before she was removed from her home and broken, mentally, physically, emotionally and financially.
We, her family, are very emotional about returning back to the U.S. and having to fight for Clara's protection and security, and every elders right to remain and maintain their own home.

Tales From Puerto Plata.-Dominican Republic
Martha told me how they found a hulking shell of a building and it took them weeks to track down the owner who was a 96 year old Jewish elder , that had been imported by Rafael Trujillo , a former white dictator of the Dominican Republic who in an attempt to purify the race imported single Jewish men and hence the Jewish settlers married Dominican women and became among the most succesful businessmen in Puerto Plata.
That same year a Entomologist convention was held in Santo Domingo and here was Marta and her orphaned children as guest of honor amongst scientist from all over the world staying at one of the country's finest hotels in the capital.
Marta's blog is described as : A journal of activities relating to volunteer service in the Dominican Republic mostly related to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children and the people who work with them.

"The Little Red Roadster" - Raul enjoying his parents, Clara & A. J. Fernandez.
"The Little Red Roadster" is what they called it, and it was something that was enjoyed by every Fernandez family member!
In fact, it was enjoyed by three generations of Fernandez's, first, Raul and his wife Judy, then by Raul with his grandson Alexander J. Fernandez, and ultimately by Raul and his parents Clara and A. J. Fernandez.
Yes, they all enjoyed this simple little 'kit-car' and my how everyone seemed to bond closer after an afternoon ride around the island of Key West.
( Raul and his father, A.J. Fernandez.)
(Raul and his mother, Clara G. Fernandez.)
The most impressive thing I found about this little car is that it was the gift that was enjoyed by the entire family, and the most impressive thing of all, is the comment that I heard Raul make about this car when he was asked by a total stranger if he liked driving it, he said, and I quote;
" The most fun I ever had with this car believe it or not, was riding around with my parents, just the fact that they got to enjoy it more than I did, was such a satisfaction in itself"!
Family love is an unselfish love, and the love Raul has for his elderly parents has been an example to myself and to many others.
I myself have learned first hand, how much time and effort it takes to keep a family stable and happy as I raised two children, and now that Raul's father has since passed, Raul has doubled up his efforts in keeping his mother happy and healthy.
There is so much to learn about the elderly, gosh, who knew that they could be so fragile and susceptible to "Elder Abuse', especially by a person that is close to ones own family.
Now in this Century it has come to light that most abusers of elders ARE family members, just acting out their hidden resentments and aggressions that they have harbored within themselves for so very long!
It is indeed a shame and a travesty for me to have been a witness to any form of abuse, be it child or elder, and I will be pro-active on the side of elderly victims through any means available to me.
I will continue my research on Elder Abuse and continue publishing my findings on this blog until ALL forms of Elder Abuse are no longer allowable in this Great Nation and Worldwide as well.

Clara's Enjoys some Quality Time with Family in The Dominican Republic
BubbleShare: Share photos - Print Christmas Coloring Pages.
By L.A.Borguss Revised 11-26-07
Life on this island of Dominican Republic is one of stressless existence.
Most of the medical and dental facilities are readily available.
The sheer beauty of the Island's people is the highlight of my vacation with Clara and Judy's family.
Each and every day, Judy's family members surround Clara with such love and attention. I and my husband Erich are very pleased with the accommodations that were made for Clara and we both have enjoyed the family's hospitality and meals at the family dinner table.
There is love and respect for each other in Judy's family, each family member does his or her part to ensure that Clara is comfortable. The younger children entertain Clara and the older children speak to her about their work and aspirations.
This is one of the most highly functional, united and loving family I have ever known The respect and love that is woven into the fabric of the lives of the people of this island paradise is to be commended and envied.
Traditional family values and their Christain Faith is a very important part of the lives of the people of this island nation, it is quite impressive to see the way that the children "mind their manners" and "show their elders respect and appreciation".
In this slide show, you will see myself and my husband Erich in Judy's family home and along side of us and Clara, you will see Ray and Judy, Judy's sister Juana, Judy's mother and father, Judy's nephew Leo and several other cousins and nephews.
This is what you would see every day while you were here, as we did. There is never a dull moment with all of the singing and dancing and celebrating of life on this island and in this family's home. Clara needed to come here and laugh and be happy once again!
Clara is safe and in more than capable hands and she is quite happy on her stay in the Dominican Republic, and we are pleased to say.

Welcome to the Elder Abuse Circus !

I did a search for Clara and came up with this picture taken by Clara's captors after they left her alone in a motel room, drugged (documented) and she had to be flown out for neurosurgery and became in capacitated (also well documented ) apparently her captors saw a photo op, and published this picture of Clara.
