More Tips on Avoiding Senior Scams

Many seniors spend their lives saving for their golden years, but fraud can take that all away, sometimes in a matter of minutes. It’s difficult to measure the national impact of fraud on seniors, but it’s considerable — perhaps more than anybody really knows. That’s because not all victims of this crime report the offense. For instance, the National Center on Elder Abuse estimates that only one in 25 financial exploitation cases is reported, suggesting in excess of five million victims each year. But financial exploitation of seniors is only one form of fraud.
