Happy Independence Day

A lot of our elders have fought for our hard earned freedom, July 4Th is an excellent day to show appreciation to our elders for paving the way for many of the freedoms and comforts that we take for granted today.

Please call your nearest retirement center and volunteer for a couple of hours and show your appreciation, you can bring a little gift from the dollar store, or even a card. Most retirement centers appreciate volunteers and a lot of them will have activities this July 4Th .

Key West Convalescent Center will be having a cookout complete with Watermelon seed spitting contest and ElderAbuseHelp.Org will be there to bring some cheer to the activities with a Karaoke contest from 12-2PM . Please be there if you can.

In the United States, Independence Day (commonly known as "the Fourth of July", or "July the Fourth") is a federal holiday celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from Great Britain.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, picnics, baseball games, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Fireworks have been associated with the Fourth of July since 1777.

What a marvelous idea. I have been wanting to get involved a retirement centers for awhile now. I am of that age, but still feel young. But there are so many..who maybe just need to smile more.
