Elder Abuse Remains Underreported Crime

Jack Parks was a 98-year-old survivor. He and his wife were married 74 years, and he was her sole caretaker before she passed away from Alzheimer's disease.

Julia Spencer answered an ad in the local newspaper when Parks needed a caregiver. She beat him, she kicked him until he was black and blue, she tied him to a chair with a vacuum cleaner cord and tried to set him on fire.

He died three weeks later of complications due to the injuries Spencer had caused.

"When you consider that people over the age of 65 will number about 52 million in the year 2020, crime and victimization against our seniors is not something we can ignore,"

Wow , married for 74 years and I thought Clara and A.J had been together a long time at 58 years before some jerk come and end it all , I sure hope the authorities are tough on elder abuse and prevent Julia Spencer from ever working again as a caregiver !
