A Living Will by "Blogger of the Week"

Does anyone dispute what someone’s ‘sound mind’ might be when they make out a will? And assuming they are of sound mind at the time; what happens if that changes between the drawing-it-up time and “check-out” time?

Is this where you start to hear of those horrible, bitter family fights taking place? Is this where everyone and their uncle contests the wishes of the dearly departed? When even the closest of families turn on each other like a pack of wolves?

So here I am, faced with another decision….drawing up a will. I’m sure I’ll do it…like everything else. I don’t have to think about a “Living Will” yet do I? As far as I know, I’m still of sound mind and body….although that can be debated. Well, when and if that time comes……I like Maxine’s thoughts on the subject……with maybe a few alterations….

I, MAXINE, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it, or lawyers / doctors interested in simply running up the bills. If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least one of the following….

Glass of wine

Chocolate

Margarita

Martini

Cold Beer

Chicken fried steak

Cream gravy

Mexican food

French fries

Pizza

Ice cream

Cup of tea

Sex

…. it should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day. posting by Joy
